Hot August Showdown Cabinet Mountain RC Raceway by Maggie Craig August 8, 2025 The Kootenai RC Racers presented Hot August Showdown XIII over the weekend of August 1-3 at Cabinet Mountain RC Raceway, northwest Montana's longest running outdoor RC competition. This popular event brought 61 drivers from around Montana and nearby states to race. This year once again brought RC royalty Adam and Ronda Drake, here from California, to compete. The Drakes first came to Libby for Hot August Showdown in 2021 and have attended ever since. The Drakes lend additional excitement to the weekend. For new racers or anyone wanting to have some fun, a novice class was held for those who wanted to try their hand on the track. Sponsored by Scheer Bros. Hobbies and various businesses, the racing action always provides a family-friendly weekend for RC race fans and drivers. A huge thank you to the sponsors and volunteers who make this event possible.
