Kootenai Falls

A spectacular sight any time of year is Kootenai Falls, located between Libby and Troy on the Kootenai River. Kootenai Falls and the adjacent swinging bridge have become major tourist attractions in recent years, but Libby residents are fortunate to have these attractions in their own back yard.
Of note is that historically, the falls have been a sacred site for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho. Their territory encompassed portions of Idaho, Montana and Canada. Kootenai Falls and the area around Libby was, and still is, considered their spiritual center. And it's easy to see why when visiting this breathtaking stretch of river.
These photos were taken on a beautiful fall day, October 20, 2024.
