The Fisher River Valley Fire/Rescue Auxiliary held its annual ice fishing derby over the weekend of February 17-18 with beautiful weather and good ice for a perfect fish derby weekend. The derby encompasses the lower Thompson Chain of Lakes. The $20 entry fee included prize money paid for the winning pike, salmon, rainbow and perch as well as a portion paid to Fish, Wildlife and Parks and the Fire/Rescue Auxiliary as a fundraiser. Generous donations from Libby, Troy and Kalispell made the event another success. As of Saturday afternoon, 387 anglers had registered for the derby.
