Libby Loggers Baseball hosted two Major League Baseball® sanctioned events on Sunday, June 4, for the first time in Libby, and Loggers coach Kelly Morford deemed the day a success.
The MLB Pitch Hit & Run is a free event that provides boys and girls ages 7 to 14 an opportunity to demonstrate their baseball and softball skills. Measurements are recorded for pitching, hitting and running and the top scorers are submitted to a pool of local champions to determine who advances to the regional competition in Seattle.
The MLB Jr. Home Run Derby is also a free event for softball and baseball players ages 12 to 16 that features their hitting skills. Regional competition could follow, pending local host winner submissions.
It was a great day for baseball and softball athletes and the camaraderie between the participants was commendable.
