Turner Mountain hosted its fifth annual Montucky Clear CUT Alpine Snowboard Carving event February 6-9. This event is Turner's largest fundraiser of the year.
Libby native David Redman started this event in 2019 as a fundraiser for Turner, and as an alternate venue when the Alpine Carving Snowboarder group moved its annual gathering from Aspen. Redman, having grown up in Libby and knowing Turner Mountain well, had the idea of holding the carving event at Turner and the Montucky (rural Montana) Clear (clear slopes; not many people) CUT (Carving Up Turner) was born.
Turner's reserved exclusively for the carvers for this gathering, which provides an excellent opportunity for learning, practicing and enjoying the sport. There are also a number of demos, clinics, games, and raffles offered during the four days.
Montucky Clear CUT is growing in popularity and for good reason. Libby is a beautiful place full of friendly folks and Turner is blessed to have a great group of hard-working, dedicated volunteers who love what they do to keep the ski area running.
These photos were taken Thursday, February 9, which was a gorgeous day on Turner full of sunshine and blue sky which provided a great final day for this annual gathering of snowboarders.
