Fisher River Valley Fire/Rescue Ice Fishing Derby

The annual Fisher River Valley Fire/Rescue ice fishing derby was held over the weekend of January 29-30 on the Thompson Chain of Lakes with beautiful weather and good ice for a perfect fish derby weekend. Adult entries for the weekend totaled 530 and children 121.
The $20 entry fee included prize money paid for the winning pike, salmon, rainbow and perch as well as a portion paid to Fish, Wildlife and Parks and the Fire/Rescue Auxiliary as a fundraiser.
It was an impressive turnout and a successful weekend for the fire department and volunteers who made it happen, and all the participants who had an enjoyable weekend of ice fishing.
