Ignite the Nites Car Show

The Libby Igniters Car Club held its 60th Anniversary car show over the weekend of August 19-21 (always the third weekend in August). The Friday night cruise, Saturday car show and Saturday night burnout contest are highlights of the weekend.
This year again presented some Covid-19 challenges, since our neighbors from Canada still cannot cross the border into the United States. Canadian vehicles account for about one third of the usual car show entries so again this year, the number of vehicles wasn't quite the usual (240 entries had registered by noon Saturday; with Canada's participation, it's usually 400+).
And a fluke this year was the weather. Normally hot for the car show in August, and after 2½ months of the hottest, driest weather on record, it rained. It rained on the car show, which also presented some challenges for the presenters. Photos and placards couldn't be displayed, and a few cars had their own tents for shelter. The rain didn't keep spectators away, however, as Mineral Avenue filled with car show enthusiasts.
In spite of the challenges, though, the Igniters held yet another successful event.
This year's People's Choice winner was a 1964 Lincoln Continental owned by Jacob Tritt from Spokane, Washington. Complete car show results can be found on the Igniters web site at igniterscarclub.com/showresults.
Next year's Ignite the Nites is scheduled for August 18-20, 2022.
