A group from Marion Four friends from Marion spent the day Saturday fishing on Upper Thompson Lake. One had earlier caught a 24" pike. Upper Thompson Lake Fisher River Valley Ice Fishing Derby by Maggie Craig February 22, 2021 Fisher River Valley Fire and Rescue held its annual ice fishing derby over the weekend, February 20-21, on the lower Thompson Chain of Lakes. Good weather and good ice made perfect conditions for a weekend of ice fishing. By noon Saturday around 400 people had registered for the event, and overall over 500 participated in the derby. The $20 entry fee included prize money paid for the winning pike, salmon, rainbow and perch as well as a portion paid to Fish, Wildlife and Parks and the Fire/Rescue Auxiliary as a fundraiser. It was an impressive turnout and a successful weekend for the fire department and all the volunteers who made it happen. Find more pictures here on the Happy's Inn Facebook page.
