The 2020 Chainsaw Carving Championship wrapped up its last day on Sunday, September 13. Carvers put the finishing touches on their judged pieces and had one last quick carve for the auction at the end of the day.
It was a smoky Sunday for the competition, with air quality readings reaching into the hazardous category for the entire day.
Final results for judges' choice are: Abby Peterson, first place for his Kootenai Medicine Man; Joe Dussia, second place for his cougar and Steven Higgins, third place for his meditating moose.
People's choice goes to Steven Higgins, first place; Mark Colp, second place for his Spirit of the Kootenai and third place to Joe Dussia. Steven Higgins won the quick carve competition, determined by the dollar amount sold at auction.
In spite of the year's challenges, Kootenai Country Montana pulled off another outstanding community event. We look forward to next year and thank all who made this happen.
