Fisher River Valley Ice Fishing Derby

Fisher River Valley Fire/Rescue held its annual fundraising ice fishing derby over the weekend, January 27-28. By mid-afternoon Saturday, around 340 anglers had signed in, with more expected for Sunday.
Pictured is Pat Byrnes from Kalispell, who was trying his luck on Middle Thompson Lake. The ice was reported at 5" thick on Middle Thompson.
The weather was generally cooperative with high overcast,
occasional partly sunny skies and a light breeze. Overall, it was another great day to enjoy Montana's outdoors.
