Nordicfest Heritage Festival
September 11, 2017
The 33rd annual Nordicfest, now called Nordicfest Heritage Festival, was held over the weekend, September 8-9. Originally created to celebrate Libby's Scandinavian heritage, Nordicfest has now expanded to recognize other cultures of the region.
Smoke from the West Fork Fire outside of town blanketed the area and caused concern for the festival and parade. The Youth Runnerfell was postponed and the outdoor entertainment was moved indoors because of the smoke, and food and craft vendors and parade entrants were limited, but otherwise the event carried on as usual.
The Festival, though smaller than in past years, still provided great entertainment for the weekend in spite of the circumstances. With food vendors, juried craft show, quilt show, musical entertainment, parade and melodrama, it was still very much a Nordicfest weekend.
