STOKR Saturday 2017

The Scenic Tour of the Kootenai River (STOKR) held its 23rd annual bicycle ride over the weekend, May 13-14. STOKR is a fundraiser for Kootenai Valley Partners Habitat for Humanity which is in the process of building its twelfth house. This year's recipients are Norma Sweet and her three children.
The weather was generally agreeable, although a bit of a mixed bag. Cloudy skies with intermittent patches of blue sky and sunshine, some spitting rain occasionally, chilly at the Yaak and Pipe Creek summit, warmer at lower elevations; overall, a pleasant ride for the more than 400 riders who took part.
The success of STOKR depends on many things: the organizational skills of Susie Rice; the hundreds of dedicated volunteers who contribute their time and talents before, during and after the event; the riders who come to Libby to participate; the volunteers who help with the Habitat houses; and our community that welcomes the riders to our town.
Overall it was another successful STOKR, an event appreciated by those who attend and by those who benefit from this Habitat for Humanity fundraiser.
