Steve watches as Andrew floats The view Libby Polar Bear Season Begins October 26, 2015 The Libby Polar Bears met Sunday at Libby Creek for their first swim of the season. The water temperature was 46 degrees under a sunny sky. A total of five took the plunge, including regulars Polar Bear Rick Klin and Steve Sonju. Joining them were returning Alan Gerstenecker, first-timer Andrew Dlask, and 12-year-old Savannah Wooden, who was taking the plunge for her seventh time. Several spectators were on hand to watch and cheer. The Libby Polar Bear Club always welcomes new members and spectators every Sunday through the winter at 2:00 p.m. at the Libby Creek bridge on Farm to Market Road.
