Bitterroot

Montana's state flower is the bitterroot, (Lewisia
rediviva), which was adopted in 1895 as the official
state flower. The beautiful pink flower, which grows low to
the ground, can be found on dry rocky slopes in the
foothills and sagebrush plains of western and south central
Montana in late spring to early summer.
