It’s getting close to Christmas and maybe you haven’t quite finished your shopping. Instead of going out of town, how about checking out what some of our local businesses have to offer? You might be surprised…there’s something for most everyone on your list, from family to friends to coworkers. Mountain Meadows is stuffed to the gills with a wide assortment of unique gift items, including Montana and Libby clothing, baby gifts, jewelry, coffee, pottery, books, cards, candles, bird houses, custom gift baskets and more. Allow plenty of time to see it all. Visit Mountain Meadows at 1314 Minnesota Avenue on Highway 2. (406) 293-9241. www.mountainmeadowsgifts.com
Antler Tree Nursery and Gifts is notonly a garden center, but also offers a gift shop filled with an array of gift items. You’ll find ornaments, candles, outdoor-themed shirts, glassware, giftware, wind chimes, lawn and wall decorations, pottery and more. While you’re there, check out the snowman cookie jar collection on display. They’re not for sale, but the tally is currently 61 and growing, and they’re cute! Antler Tree also offers Christmas trees, so if you don’t have yours yet, check out their selection. Antler Tree Nursery and Gifts is located at 33692 U.S. Highway 2. (406) 293-3525.
You may not think of Sue Bee’s Quilting when you’re looking for a gift, but why not surprise your family with a new table runner for the holiday table or maybe place mats for the holiday dinner? Maybe a whimsical wall hanging to fill that bare spot on the dining room wall? Or how about a warm, snuggly quilt for your favorite guy? Sue has all of the above and lots to choose from, so stop by and find that very special hand-made-with-love gift that you won’t find anywhere else. And don’t forget to check out the bookmarks that Sue has made, too. Since you won’t be able to choose just one, get one for a friend and one for yourself. Sue Bee’s is located behind McDonald’s at 1001 Louisiana Avenue. (406) 293-7832.
Dee Dee’s Hidden Treasures is filled with items you won’t find at the box stores. They like to say "Not all antiques…Just unique," and that’s what you’ll find…unique second-go-around items. Antiques, vintage, retro, consignments, second hand, collectibles, upcycled; they’re all "Hidden Treasures" and worth a look-see. Looking for a great gift idea? How about a tin sign? They’re popular, they’re unique, and they’re tucked all through the store. Look around to find the perfect one for that hard-to-buy-for person on your gift list. Dee Dee’s Hidden Treasures is located on Highway 2 south of town at 34241 U.S. Highway 2, across from Young Guns Pizza. (406) 293-3080. Pet friendly and easy RV pull-through for your summer visitors.
Here’s another unique idea for gift giving for anyone on your list who might enjoy a model of any sort. For remote control enthusiasts, Scheer Brothers Hobbies offers everything a remote control hobbyist might want, from models to paints to parts and accessories. Look over their selection of model cars and trucks, their remote-controlled cars, planes and helicopters, or maybe one of their card games like Dungeons and Dragons. If someone on your gift list might like a model, this is the place to visit. Scheer Bros. is located at 803 California Avenue, Suite #1. (406) 293-9362.
