Art Fair & Taste of the Blues in Libby June 21st
June 14, 2014
Libby’s second annual Art Fair and Taste of the Blues will be bringing a full day of art and music to Mineral Avenue on Saturday, June 21st.
From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., local artists will have their works available for viewing and purchase at curbside booths. Free live music will be provided by The Skivees, performing from 2 to 4 p.m., and Three Eared Dog, playing from 6 to 10. When the bands aren’t playing, the music will still go on with recorded selections by bands that will be performing at this year’s Riverfront Blues Festival on Aug. 8 and 9 at Riverfront Park.
Back by popular demand after performing at last year’s festival, the Skivees are a teenage blues trio hailing from Priest River, Idaho. The band is bringing the blues tradition to their generation, performing songs their parents remember but that their peers are loving because of the video game Guitar Hero.
Three Eared Dog, based in Missoula, has spent the past three years paying dues in the dive bars and roadhouses of Montana, all the while crafting original material. With influences ranging from the Brian Setzer Orchestra to Freddie King to Asleep at the Wheel, Three-Eared Dog boasts a danceable, high-energy set reminiscent of a simpler time when music meant real people playing real instruments with conviction.
Half-price tickets for the August festival will be available for purchase at the Art Fair and Taste of the Blues. Food at the event will include offerings by Bubba B’s Texas BBQ, which will be a featured vendor at this year’s blues festival.
The Art Fair and Taste of the Blues is hosted by the Libby Area Chamber of Commerce and Riverfront Blues Festival with the support of The Western News, Managhan’s Furniture, Libby’s Closet, Glacier Bank, Oedewaldt Construction, Mark’s Magic Carpet, Payne West Insurance, Bill Clark for Sheriff and Camp Patriot. Thank you to the sponsors.
It’s not too late for artists to sign up for the fair. For more information, contact the Libby Area Chamber of Commerce at 406-293-4167. For more information on the sixth annual Riverfront Blues Festival, see www.riverfrontbluesfestival.com.
