Migratory Birds of Prey talk May 3
At Libby Dam
April 18, 2014
Learn about Migratory Birds of Prey from the experts: the birds themselves!
Wildlife Rehabilitator and raptor biologist, Janie Fink of Birds of Prey Northwest will give two talks about migratory birds of prey on Saturday, May 3rd at the Libby Dam Visitor Center. The first talk will be at 10:30 a.m. and the second at noon. Doors open at 10am and seating is on a first come, first served basis.
Avian Ambassadors on hand will be different from last year. This year, Dakota the golden eagle and a swainsons hawk will be on hand to teach visitors about migratory birds. A barn owl will introduce the audience to the world of non-migratory, nocturnal birds of prey. Also, meet the fastest animal in the world: a peregrine falcon.
The Visitor center will be open from 10am until 2pm for viewing of exhibits and movies. There is also a new, first-time display of photographs of birds and wildlife from around the Libby area by Ruth Fenn.
The local eagles are nesting and the osprey have returned. Visitors are encouraged to bring binoculars and do some wildlife viewing around Libby Dam.
