Man injured in log truck roll-over

The Montana Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into a log truck accident Wednesday morning, July 3rd. The driver, Marvin Moe, age 70, of Libby, was driving his loaded log-truck westbound on U.S. Hwy 2 in the area East of Troy where he was involved in a roll-over collision of his log truck that did not involve any other vehicles.

The Patrol says Moe drifted right, outside of the westbound lane of traffic onto the shoulder as he was entering a left corner. He corrected left and then right and then left again before his logging truck tipped over onto the right side and collided with the guardrail and concrete divider off the right side of the roadway. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision.

No other vehicles were involved.

The ALERT Helicopter transported him to Kalispell Regional Hospital where he is being treated for his serious injuries. A family member says there seems to be no injuries to vital organs. He was covered in diesel and has burns on chest and neck. His upper body was lacerated pretty badly, especially the head and face. There is damage and bad cuts to the elbow on the right--the right ankle is about totaled, will take few surgeries. His left thumb was torn off, they hope to reattach it. It won't work but would help the hand function.

Investigation of the collision is ongoing, and decision of charges to be filed will be determined at the conclusion of the investigation.
