In compliance with the Community Development Block Grant program, the City of Libby held a public hearing Wednesday evening to hear public comment from low and moderate income earners on community needs and priorities of economic development, housing, and public facilities.
The comments centered on the use of a possible $450, 000 dollar grant for the replacement of the Flower Creek dam; infrastructure improvement, specifically streets; and establishment of a senior citizens assisted-living facility to fill the void between independent living and a medical care center.
Grant requirements include at least 51% of the persons benefiting from the grant must be low to moderate income. The 2000 census indicates 55.9% of Libby residents meet the criteria. _______________________________________________
