Employees at St. John's Lutheran Hospital teamed up to support ‘Christmas Is For Kids’ with a donation of $648, plus a few toys donated by hospital employees for their November Jeans Day fundraiser.
‘Christmas is For Kids’ is now in its 10th year in Lincoln County, and its goal is to make sure that all area children have a present under the tree at Christmas time. In 2011, the program helped 450 local children have a Merry Christmas.
Speaking of the hospital, Swank Enterprises, the General Contracting firm for the New Hospital Building Project has released the construction spending figures for October and November and the results are living up to their promise of community involvement and profit.
According to Swank's Project Manager, Scott Brunner, a total of 55 employees from South Lincoln County were hired in the months of October and November to work either directly for Swank or for related sub-contractors. In addition, $678,982 project dollars were spent locally in wages, supplies, hotels, gas stations, subcontractors, and in the local stores during that same time period.
"We are on schedule", said Bruce Whitfield, St. John's CEO, "fortunately we beat the weather and poured the foundation so that the project can continue on through the winter", said Whitfield.
For now the project is on target for the construction deadline of January 2014.
The steel has arrived and should start to be erected hopefully next week. _________________________________________
