Sunday, November 11th, at approximately 8:10 pm, Troy area resident Billie Don Norman, 29, was killed in a one vehicle crash on Highway 56.
According to the Highway Patrol, his vehicle crossed the centerline at milepost 26.5 and entered the ditch on the opposite side of the roadway where it rolled over several times before coming to rest. Norman was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover, which resulted in fatal injuries. There were no additional passengers in Norman's vehicle.
The cause of the crash is consistent with a driver performing an evasive maneuver by swerving around an animal or other obstruction in the roadway. That evidence is based on a rolling yaw (skid) mark in the southbound lane of traffic prior to the vehicle entering the ditch. The roadway was bare and dry at the time of the crash.
Alcohol/intoxicant use prior to the crash will be determined pending toxicology report results from the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula, which is routine procedure on any fatal or serious injury crash.
Norman is survived by Denise Jex, and three kids whom he has helped raise the last 4 or 5 years.
This crash is still under investigation. ________________________________________________
