Students participate in Elks Hoop Shoot

Libby Elks Hoop Shooters stepped to the free throw line Friday in the Libby Elementary Gym and shot 25 free throws. The Elks Hoop Shoot is one of the largest youth sports activities in the country for boys and girls. Ages range from 8 to 13 with 3 divisions for boys and girls.

This year's champions are as follows:
Girls 10-11: 1st Sidney Gier, 2nd Samantha Bradeen
12-13: 1st Shannon Reny, 2nd Khalyn Haggeness

Boys 8-9: 1st Zach Fantozzi, 2nd Hunter Bower
10-11: 1st Jay Beagle, 2nd Dalton Dodge
12-13: Ryggs Johnston

Ryggs Johnston was the top shooter with a score of 24 of 25. Last year, Ryggs Johnston placed second in the nation.

The winners of each age division will advance to the Elks District Contest at the Joe McDonald Health and Athletic Center in Pablo, Montana at 1 p.m. on January 5th.
