Where was the smoke coming from?

All the smoke Sunday evening (August 19th) in the Libby area was the result of a "landing pile" off Snowshoe road catching fire. DNRC and Forest Service crews and tenders responded. They opened up the interior of the pile with an excavator to extinguish the fire. It amounted to about a quarter acre around the pile in grass, according to a Forest Service spokesman. It did not get into trees. It just put up a lot of smoke. The fire on Sunday afternoon, August 20th in the Snowshoe Road area about 3pm is being considered an arson. The Libby Fire Department is requesting anyone witnessing any vehicles coming out of the area around 3pm Sunday afternoon to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Forest Service, or Fire Department. _____________________________
