Eureka man killed in crash
by Duane Williams, KLCB-KTNY Radio
August 26, 2012

A one-vehicle crash involving a commercial semi tractor-trailer claimed the life of a Eureka area man Friday morning (August 24th) at approximately 9:46 am. Montana Highway 37 was closed for nearly five hours while state transportation workers re-routed traffic around on the Jennings Haul Road.

The name of the male and the identity of the vehicle owner involved is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The vehicle slowly and gradually drifted off the right side of the roadway and the driver overcorrected, causing the fully-loaded trailer to separate from the towing unit and tip over onto its side dumping its entire load of cargo onto the roadway which completely blocked both lanes of travel. The tractor rolled down a steep embankment on the opposite side of the road.

According to Montana Highway Patrol Sgt. Duane Bowers, the driver was using a seat belt and speed, alcohol and/or drug use were not factors in the crash. No other vehicles were involved.
