Flathead Electric Co-op will implement a rate increase of 3.25% as a result of increased wholesale power costs, according to the utility. Flathead's Board of Trustees decided to recover these costs gradually over the course of a few years rather than implementing a large one-time rate increase.
Statements issued after June 1, will reflect the new rates, which will include usage in May, 2012.
The majority of residential members will experience an increase of less than $4 a month. The basic rate will increase from $20.78 and month to $21.26 a month for single phase service. To provide members with incentives to use less electricity, kilowatt-hour charges increase as more electricity is consumed using a tiered rate structure. __________________________________
