Kootenai Pets For Life will hold a clinic for interested persons to get microchips for their pets on Monday February 20 starting at 10:00. Cost for those who have adopted animals from KPFL will be $15 which covers the cost to the shelter. Those who have animals not adopted from KPFL will be asked to pay $35 as a donation to further the shelter's rescue mission. Anyone adopting an animal who wants a chip at the time of adoption will add $10 to the adoption fee.
Interested persons may simply show up after 10:00 or call 406-293-4936 if they would prefer an appointment. The implants will be given by a registered vet tech. The chips can be read by any veterinarian's office as well as by many animal shelters and give information about getting in touch with the owner of the animal in case it is lost or has strayed.
KPFL president Eileen Carney said "It's always painful for the shelter workers when an obviously well cared for animal comes in and we can't find the owner. This will help us get the animal back where it belongs."
The shelter is located on County Shops Road, the second right off of the Kootenai River road. _______________________________________
