Man killed by train near Libby

The Lincoln County Sheriff has released the name of the 29-year-old man killed by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train Saturday night. William "Billy" Escudero , of Libby, appears to have intentionally stepped into the path of the train. The investigation continues.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Saturday, January 14th at about 11:52 P.M., Lincoln County Sheriff's Office received notification from a BNSF agent that a westbound train had struck a pedestrian just outside of Libby in the area of the East 5th Street Extension.
Deputies arrived to find the train stopped at the scene and the body of a deceased a 29-year-old adult male was found nearby. The name was withheld pending notification of family
Evidence indicates that the male intentionally stepped in front of the train.
After processing the scene, the train continued westbound. Investigators cleared the area at about 4:30 AM.
