Libby Polar Bears New Year Plunge
January 4, 2012
The Libby Polar Bears held a special plunge Sunday to celebrate the New Year. Normally held in Libby Creek at the Farm to Market bridge, Sunday's swim was instead held at Riverfront Park with thirteen intrepid souls taking the plunge.
Libby Polar Bear president Rick Klin, who might be considered an extreme Polar Bear, floated in the water 10 minutes to oversee everyone who took the plunge.
The event was well-attended under a 30 degree, sunny sky by spectators wanting to watch those crazy Polar Bears. The river was a relatively warm 41 degrees, several degrees warmer than Libby Creek (although most folks would still say, "It's cold!")
Congratulations to all those brave enough to take the plunge!
