The Libby Pamida store will be getting a new look and new name.
Pamida and Shopko will re-merge to create a larger retail chain operating under the Shopko banner.
The merged entity will be based at Shopko's current headquarters in Green Bay, Wisconsin, rather than from the Omaha, Nebraska Pamida location.
The deal will reunite the Shopko and Pamida chains under a single management. As a public company based in Green Bay, ShopKo Stores Inc. had previously operated Shopko and Pamida, with Pamida stores primarily located in rural markets, but were separated in 2005. The company will invest $80 million over the next 12 months to convert Pamida into the Shopko Hometown store concept.
Pamida operates 193 stores in 17 states, primarily in the Mountain, North Central and Midwest regions, and has revenue of approximately $1 billion. ________________________________________ by Duane Williams, KLCB-KTNY Radio, www.todaysbestcountryonline.com e-mail: klcb@frontiernet.net.
