Explanation for helicopter’s strange behavior

Folks up at 5am Monday (January 9) noted what seemed strange operations as the Alert helicopter came into town for a pickup of a patient from St. John's Hospital in Libby.
The chopper made a landing at the hospital helipad, as normal, but due to fog quickly rolling in from the river and Libby Creek, visibility requirements were deteriorating quickly, resulting in the pilot having to take-off or be grounded until afternoon when visibility improved.
The chopper took-off and proceeded toward the Libby airport, but decided to make a landing at the Town Pump and meet Libby Volunteer Ambulance there as opposed to the airport.
The strange operation of the chopper raised a lot of interest from folks up at that hour. So there you have it. Fog. ________________________________________ by Duane Williams, KLCB-KTNY Radio, www.todaysbestcountryonline.com e-mail: klcb@frontiernet.net.
