Four Libby teenagers went on a crime rampage called "car hopping" Sunday morning (Jan. 8).
The Libby Police Department was successful in apprehending the four with help from a citizen's tip.
The four, ages 15, 16, 17, and 18, targeted unlocked cars and stole anything that was in the vehicles, from laptop computers, cameras, to insignificant items such as cigarette lighters. Their spree covered a wide-area of town from River Road to Woodway Park, Shalom Drive and Florence Road, and the area between Highway 2 and the River in town.
The three juveniles appeared in District Court on charges of felony theft in common scheme and were handed a $5000 bond each. The 18-year-old is an adult in the eyes of the law.
The Libby Police Department has recovered some of the stolen items. Anyone whose car was entered Saturday night or Sunday morning should contact the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, reference case #183, to identify and reclaim property. ________________________________________ by Duane Williams, KLCB-KTNY Radio, www.todaysbestcountryonline.com e-mail: klcb@frontiernet.net.
