Wednesday, November 30th, just before midnight, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Dispatch received a call from Boundary County, Idaho Dispatch advising that two of their officers were in a high-speed pursuit with a stolen vehicle out of Washington.
The pursuit was toward Libby on Highway 2 with speeds in excess of 100 mph. At the Idaho/ Montana state line, the suspect vehicle attempted to ram one of the Idaho patrol vehicles before continuing toward Troy.
A Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy responded to the state line and picked up the pursuit of the stolen vehicle west of Troy. Just after midnight, a Sheriff's Deputy and a Libby Police Officer successfully deployed stop sticks on the west end of Libby. The suspect vehicle continued through Libby and attempted to turn north on California Avenue at an estimated speed of 65 mph. The suspect vehicle slid past the turn, collided with a pole in the Aitken's Quik Stop parking lot and came to a rest after slamming into a snow bank.
Both occupants, later identified as a juvenile male (driver) and a juvenile female (passenger) from Washington, exited the vehicle and ran on foot.
Sheriff's deputies apprehended the driver several blocks away while the female passenger was caught by an Idaho officer near the crash.
Currently, both juveniles are being held in the juvenile detention facility in Troy with felony charges pending on the male driver, according to Lincoln County Sheriff Roby Bowe. _____________________________________________
