St John's Lutheran Hospital raised close to $45,000, before expenses, at this year's Festival of Trees. A full house of 272 party goers attended, according to K. C. Hoyer, of St Johns. There were 18 trees on display and auction. The Northwest Community Health Center's Mini Mouse Tree was the "Festival Favorite."
Hoyer told us they had folks from Whitefish, Kalispell, Polson, Columbia Falls, Sandpoint, Spokane, and from Connecticut attend. "The Festival just continues to grow each year in spite this economy", said Hoyer. The most the Festival of Trees has r raised is $53,000 and that was in a strong economy. "$45 thousand is truly a blessing", she added.
The proceeds go to the new hospital project. It looks like HUD will do a site visit sometime in January as part of the finance application process. The hospital is getting closer to finding out about the funding for the $35 million dollar undertaking.
