Montanore DEIS delayed by Duane Williams, KLCB-KTNY Radio September 21, 2011 The Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Montanore was supposed to have gone to the printer's and been available by mid-September. The U.S. Forest Service says the print job didn't make the deadline. It is now supposed to go to press by tomorrow. That will make the deadline for public comment later than the original November 7th and the final statement complete in 2012. The Montanore Mine could mean as many as 500 construction phase jobs and 300 mining jobs for Libby. Lincoln County has the second highest unemployment rate in the state at 14.1%, a close second to Sanders County with 14.7%. The Montanore Positive Action Committee has a rally planned on September 28th. Meanwhile, a new opposition group known as alternativeone.org has surfaced. The group's name stems from the alterative one in the draft EIS.
