Fall is just around the corner and the atmosphere will be perfect for cooking and tasting chili. The Heritage Museum’s 6th Annual Chili Cook-Off will be held Saturday, October 1st. This has become a much-anticipated community event.
The gates will open at 7:30 AM to give the cooks plenty of time to combine their chili ingredients and simmer them to perfection.
The two categories will be: Chili with Meat, No Beans (Texas Style: tomato-based sauce and seasonings) and All Other Types.
Prizes in each category will be: $100 cash for 1st place, $50 cash for 2nd place, and $25 cash for 3rd place.
Judging begins at noon followed by a public chili-tasting at 1 PM. For $4 you’ll receive cornbread, a spoon and enough sampling cups to allow you to sample all the chili entries. Proceeds will benefit the Museum.
The People’s Choice Award will be chosen by the public’s vote, so be sure to vote for your favorite after sampling the various chilies.
Entry forms are available at the Libby Library, Libby Chamber of Commerce, and on the museum’s website: www.libbyheritagemuseum.org. Entry forms can be mailed to Susan Castaneda, 1143 Greers Ferry Road, Libby, MT 59923 along with the $5 entry fee. Entries must be received by Wednesday, September 28th.
