SJLH Foundation Golf Tournament raises
by St. John’s Lutheran Hospital
August 9, 2011
The 19th Annual St. John’s Lutheran Hospital Foundation’s Playing for Fundsies was anything but normal with golf carts adorned with alligators, sharks, and beach balls; beach clad golfers;, and flamingos in the sand traps. What about any of that says golf? For the 120 golfers that braved 90 degree temperatures, a little fun went a long way. The tournament helped raise just over $25,000 for the new hospital project.
"I have to admit that the Beach Party theme gave the whole tournament a flare for fun," commented KC Hoyer, Executive Director of the SJLH Foundation. "It was a long day, but the crowd was energetic and everyone seemed to be having a good time."
The 2011 tournament winners were the Lincoln County Title and Escrow team—Jeff Dooley, Larry Iverson, Logan Iverson, and Roger Peters. The first place winners split $500. Taking the second place $250 prize was the Libby Care Center Team—Stan Rossling, Jerry Mee, Jimmy Mee, and Paul Rexroad. The third place $100 prize went to Team Johnson Control/Lincoln County Radiology—John Miller, Lee Kvam, Jim Olsen, and Rich Jarvis.
Other winners at the event where Chris Beaudoin, men’s long drive; Vickie Randall, women’s long drive; Kelly MacDonald, men’s long putt; and Ruth Fenn, women’s long putt. Jimmy Mee and Callie Reichow took home the closest to the pin awards.
For the 3rd year in a row, Team North West Community Health Center took the coveted best-decorated cart award for their shark clad golf cart. And the always exciting best dressed individual awards went to Jerry Michaels and Ruth Fenn, and the best dressed team award going to North West Community Health Center.
"The enthusiasm and creativity of the players at Fundsies never ceases to amaze me," added Hoyer. "These folks aren’t in this tournament to win big prizes. They are here to support their community hospital, and have some fun doing it. Every year they show their appreciation for local quality healthcare by supporting this event, and every year they continue to raise the bar. We’re looking forward to entertaining them again in 2012 when we return with an 18-hole tournament and change the date to June."
