Riverfront Blues Festival
August 16, 2011
The third annual Riverfront Blues Festival was held over the weekend in Libby's Riverfront Park. Among those performing was Phil Gates (pictured), who impressed the crowd Saturday evening. Friday's acts included the Smokehouse Blues Band from Bigfork, Big Daddy and the Blue Notes from the Flathead, and the Red Hot Blues Sisters from Seattle. Saturday's music included the Meadow Blasters from Troy, Carl Rey and the Blues Gators from Sandpoint, Phil Gates from Los Angeles, the Fat Tones from Spokane, and another performance by the Red Hot Blues Sisters. New this year was parking and free camping at J. Neils Park, with a shuttle bus running between the park and the festival site. A bicycle tour of Lake Koocanusa, sponsored by David Thompson Search and Rescue, was also held Saturday in conjunction with the festival. Organizers said the entire event was a great success and a good time was had by those in attendance.
