The Libby Volunteer Fireman Monument is under construction in Fireman's Park. The monument will feature a sculpture of a firefighter in full "turnouts," and the names of members of the LVFD, past and present, when completed.
The 100th anniversary celebration will begin at 9:00am Saturday July 9th at the location in Fireman Park. Retired firefighters from out of town are expected to attend. After the dedication, a parade immediately following the monument ceremony will proceed to the downtown fire house for a reception open house from 10am to 1pm. At 2pm Donkey Softball with the Fire Department versus the Libby Volunteer Ambulance will get under way at J. Neils Park. Fire truck rides will be available. Admission is free of charge. Concessions for purchase will be available.
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will appear Saturday evening at J. Neils Park as a fund raiser for the Center for Asbestos Related Disease to wrap up Saturday evening. ______________________________________________
