Libby Dam Flow Update - June 17, 2011

Current Libby Dam inflow is ~52.9 kcfs. Current Libby Dam outflow is ~25.8 kcfs.
Libby Dam is reducing outflow in response to a request from BC Hydro to alleviate flooding issues on Kootenay Lake. Beginning on Friday, 17 June, at 2200 MDT, outflow will be reduced to 20.0 kcfs over a 3 hour period. The total outflow of 20.0 kcfs will likely be held through next week.
Current Koocanusa Reservoir elevation is 2399.9 feet.
The reservoir is currently filling at approximately 2 feet per day, and this rate is expected to continue in the short-term.
This spring we are actively monitoring Kootenai River conditions both above and below Libby Dam for flood risk management issues. The Northwest River Forecast Center creates daily forecasts for short term projections throughout the Kootenai and Columbia River Basins. These forecasts can be updated multiple times in a day and can be updated at anytime as conditions change. Links to those projections can be found below:
