Libby Dam Flow Update - June 8, 2011

Current Libby Dam outflow is ~16.0 kcfs.
Outflow will increase to 20.0 kcfs on Thursday, 09 June, starting at 0100 MDT. This adjustment is in response to local flows between Libby Dam and Bonners Ferry peaking or starting to peak from the recent rain event. Cooler temps are then expecting to decrease snowmelt so another change could be possible later Thursday. Current Koocanusa Reservoir elevation is 2381.7 feet.
The reservoir is currently filling at approximately 2 to 4 feet per day, and this rate is expected to continue in the short-term.
This spring we will be actively monitoring Kootenai River conditions both above and below Libby Dam for flood control issues. The Northwest River Forecast Center is updating daily forecasts for short term projections throughout the Kootenai River and Columbia Basins. Links to those projections can be found below:
