Heritage Museum Opening Day

June 4, 2011

The Heritage Museum officially opened for the season today, under a beautiful blue, sunny sky. The highlight of this year's opening day included information about David Thompson, this area's preeminent explorer and trader. George Sibley's movie Shadows of David Thompson and a talk by Carl Haywood, an expert about David Thompson, were included in the day's events. Patty Rambo was also on hand to demonstrate traditional Native American games, as were Mark and Charlotte Morain from the Kootenai Muzzleloaders. New exhibits were on display in the museum, and the Kootenai Fine Arts Group is currently featured in the Tower Gallery.

The museum is now open through the summer. Museum hours are Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Admission is by donation. The Heritage Museum is run completely by volunteers, and help is always welcome.
