Wings Week fundraiser May 7-14

Wings Regional Cancer Support will be kicking off its annual Wings Week fundraiser on Saturday, May 7 with the traditional Cinco de Mayo Mexican buffet dinner in a new location – the VFW hall in Libby.
Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. and is priced at $10 for adults, $5 for children 4 to 12 and free for kids 3 and under.
The Yaak River Tavern, which has hosted the Cinco de Mayo dinner in the past, will instead be hosting a spaghetti feed and auction to close out the week on Saturday, May 14. Dinner starts at 6 p.m. and is priced at $7. Live music will be provided by Borderline.
In between, there will be a bowling tournament on Tuesday, May 10, and Dollar Day on Wednesday, May 11.
The bowling tournament starts at 7 p.m. at Lincoln Lanes in Libby and Trojan Lanes in Troy. To sign up in Libby, call Peggy Craver at 293-7842. In Troy, call Trojan Lanes at 295-5024.
On Wednesday, the Wings clowns will be walking the streets of downtown Libby throughout the day asking for donations, and volunteer "Wings walkers" will be canvassing the neighborhoods of Libby and Troy during the early evening. Walkers will meet at 5 p.m. at the fire hall in Libby and at the park in Troy. For more information about the Libby walk, call Connie Wood in Libby at 406-293-4380. Benefit raffle tickets will be on sale May 2 and 5 at Rosauers and are also available from Wings volunteers. The drawing will be held on the evening of the Wings walk, with prizes including a full day of fishing on the Kootenai River with guide Tim Linehan, a handmade fly rod by Trevert Shelley, a quilt and pillow cases made by the women of Christ Lutheran Church, and half a pig donated by the Craver family. Wings helps cancer patients and their families meet out-of-pocket expenses associated with cancer treatment that aren’t covered by insurance, such as fuel, meals and lodging. Last year, Wings provided 122 grants to residents of Lincoln, Flathead and Lake counties adding up to $137,895. In Lincoln County, 62 grants provided $73,530 to patients and their families. Over the past 15 years, To date, more than $1.2 million in assistance has been provided. ________________________________________
