St. John’s Lutheran Hospital once again kicked off the annual WINGs week by holding a Jean’s Day fundraiser for the local cancer assistance organization.
On April 29, the employees of St. John’s Lutheran Hospital were given the benefit of wearing blue jeans in return for a donation to the not-for-profit. This year, the employees alone raised $610.00 for this worthy cause. St. John’s Lutheran Hospital will match their donations, bringing the total contribution up to $1220.00!
WINGs is a grass roots organization that provides cash support for people on Northwest Montana who are being treated for cancer. The cash grants offered to these local cancer patients cover transportation, meals, and lodging expenses – things that can add a ton to the cost of having cancer but are not included under insurance coverage for treatment. Since 1997, WINGs has raised and distributed over one million dollars to local people in need.
"Once again our employees really stepped up to the plate for this particular jeans day, and with the match from the hospital, the 2011 contribution has nearly doubled our contributions from past years. I’m so proud of our employees and of our organization for their tradition of giving to our communities," stated KC Hoyer, Marketing Manager at St. John’s. "Libby and Troy celebrate this program not only monetarily, but in program volunteer time as well. It takes a combined effort, and our communities really shine when it comes to helping others. They have proven it time and time again. It is our honor as a hospital and its employees to be able to kick off this very important week of fundraising!"
