Polar Bears take final swim of season
April 6, 2011
The Libby Polar Bears took their final swim of the season Sunday, under a sunny sky and an air temperature around 50 degrees. The water temperature was 41 degrees. A total of six swimmers took the plunge (seven if you count the dog).
Rick Klin, Steve Sonju, Jan Ivers, Carol Lisle, granddaughter Kenadi Lisle, and 9-year-old Tim Lundstrom were on hand. Jan and Tim both received certificates, becoming official Libby Polar Bears. Adults must take 12 swims in a season and kids six swims to receive a certificate.
Polar Bear president Rick Klin invites anyone interested in swimming or watching to visit them next season at the Libby Creek bridge on Farm to Market Road every Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The season starts the last Sunday in October and the last swim is the first Sunday in April. See you next season!
