On February 25th, the employees of St. John’s Lutheran Hospital once again supported a local not-for-profit agency with their monthly jeans day. This time, their generosity was in support of the Troy Volunteer Ambulance (TVA) for the purchase of a bariatric board. Together, the SJLH employees contributed $329.00 to the cause. Then, the hospital matched the employee’s gifts adding another $329.00, and bringing the total donation up to $658.00!

"The Troy Volunteer Ambulance is comprised of 14 very dedicated EMTs," stated Ed Apple, Vice President of TVA. "We are committed to serving the Troy, Bull Lake, and Yaak communities with the highest quality of care. Part of the way we do that is by having up to date and state-of-the-art equipment, which is one of our main goals. The money donated by St. John’s and its employees will go toward purchasing a backboard that will enable us to better serve our bariatric patients. We want to extend a big thank you to SJLH and their employees for the continued support."

Lance Ercanbrack, M.D. and General Surgeon at SJLH is also grateful for the jeans days held for the local ambulance services to purchase these boards. "As the general surgeon in Libby, I spend a lot of time working traumas in the emergency department. It becomes more and more apparent every day that a growing percentage of our population is getting larger. It is imperative that we have the proper equipment to support this part of the population when they need the help of local emergency services. These bariatric boards are designed to do just that," stated Dr. Ercanbrack. "These boards will be a great addition to the Troy ambulance service, and to the care that we are able to give our communities in transport to the emergency department, and in the emergency department itself."
