The Libby School Board has decided to float a $200,000 mil levy. The request comes on the heels of a $12 million dollar bond request for infrastructure costs of consolidation of the school system which failed soundly. The board unanimously voted to run the levy. The schools are facing a $450,000 General Operating Budget shortfall. Budget cuts, closing of Asa Wood School, staff reductions, retirements, and non renewal of Special Services Supervisor’s contract – worth $102,000 in salary and benefits, alone amounting to 25% of the total shortfall – in addition to the mil levy are hoped to make up that amount. On the May 3rd ballot, in addition to the mil levy, will be two Trustee positions of three years each. The deadline to apply to be on the ballot is March 24th at 3pm. Applications are available at the school’s business office in Central School. _______________________________________________
