Lincoln County Public Libraries host programs in March

Troy Library: The Lincoln County Public Library in Troy will be presenting a full calendar of programs during the month of March. All events are free and open to the public.
The Troy Friends of the Library will meet on Wednesday, March 9 at 1 pm. All are welcome.
Every Thursday in March kids and families are welcome to attend the Troy Library’s after-school program. The programs are held from 4:15 pm until 5 pm and will continue on Thursday afternoons throughout the school year. The Troy Writing Workshop Group holds meetings on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. This month, the meetings will be on March 2 and March 16. Both meetings will be held at the Troy Library and will begin at 6:30. The group welcomes writers of all ages, but please be advised that the group will not censor anything. New members are also welcome and should contact Stacy at the Troy Library for more information.
The library will be holding a St. Patrick’s Day party on Thursday, March 17. Festivities begin at 4 pm, with a special screening of the classic Disney film Darby O’Gill and the Little People (1959, 93 minutes), starring Sean Connery, beginning at 4:45.
The Troy Library’s Book Discussion Group will meet on Friday, March 18 at 5 pm. This month, the group will discuss the non-fiction work, The Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan. In the book, Pollan explores the ecology of eating to unveil why we consume what we consume in the twenty-first century. Books are available at the library for 14-day checkout.
Come to the Troy Library on Tuesday, March 22 for the program, "How to Use HeritageQuest Online for Genealogy." Learn how to use HeritageQuest Online from your home or from the library. See original census records, full-text historic books, and more, in your search for family roots across the United States and the beyond. The program begins at 5 pm.
The last Friday of every month is Amnesty Day at the Lincoln County Libraries. This month, Amnesty Day is Friday, March 25. Any materials less than 90 days overdue which are returned in good condition to any of the three libraries on that day will have all penalties waived. Overdue interlibrary loan materials are not included.

The Libby Friends of the Library hold a monthly book sale on the first Friday of each month from 10 until 5. This month, the book sale will be on Friday, March 4.
The Libby Friends of the Library will hold a meeting on Tuesday, March 29 at 6 pm at the Libby Library. All are welcome.
The Libby Library hosts after school programs for kids every Wednesday at 4 pm. Depending on the topic of the week, kids and families have the opportunity to learn about different subjects or show their creative skills through arts and crafts projects.
Come to the library on Tuesday, March 1 at 6 pm for the presentation, "The Internet and Security – Learn the Most Common Pitfalls." The rapid growth of online activity has been accompanied by an increase in malicious spyware programs, viruses, worms and hackers. Learn the most common online scams and dangers and how to avoid them.
On Tuesday, March 8 at 6 pm the Libby Library will host a presentation give by the Environmental Protection Agency titled, "An Introduction to Human Health Risk Assessment." This one-hour program will help familiarize Libby community members with the EPA’s risk assessment terminology and methods so that when the site-wide cumulative risk assessment is made available to the public, the community will have the necessary tools to understand the risk assessment’s results.
Monday, March 14 (3/14) is Pi Day. Because this greatly anticipated holiday falls on a day when the library is closed, the library will hold its fourth annual celebration on Saturday, March 12. On Pi Day (observed), pie will be served from noon until 2 pm, or as long as the librarian-made pastries last.
The Libby Library will host its monthly program series "Old Time-y Tuesdays" on Tuesday, March 15 at 5 pm. Classic movies are shown on the big screen and popcorn is provided. This month, the library will screen the film Roman Holiday (1953, 119 minutes), starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck. A princess travels incognito in Rome to experience a "normal life." A reporter discovers her ruse, but falls in love with her before his exclusive story about the princess’ double life goes to press. The Lincoln County Libraries have recently added ebooks to their services. For those people interested in learning about how to access and use the service, the Eureka Library will be presenting a class in the basics of Overdrive ebooks on Saturday, March 19 at 11:30 am. The librarian will remain at the Eureka Library until 2 pm to answer any questions.
The Libby Book Discussion Group will meet on Tuesday, March 22 at 6 pm to discuss Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman. The novel tells the story of Charlie, whose father isn’t just any father. He is Anansi, a trickster god, the spirit of rebellion able to overturn the social order, create wealth out of thin air, and baffle the devil. When he dies on a karaoke stage, things get very interesting for Charlie.
The Libby Library presents Family Movies @ Your Library on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. These events begin at noon. On Saturday, March 12 the library will show the 1986 Disney film The Great Mouse Detective (72 minutes, G). There's action, mystery and comedy afoot when super sleuth Basil of Baker Street matches wits with his old nemesis, Professor Ratigan in this animated classic. Come to the library on Saturday, March 26, to watch the 1960 film Pollyanna (134 minutes, G), starring Hayley Mills and Karl Malden. Pollyanna is a heartwarming story of a young girl who brings good will and happiness to the residents of a New England town.
