City of Libby police have cited the Helping Place with operating without a valid city business license.
The City Council suspended the medical marijuana dispensary's license in December and gave the business sixty days to move out of the City limits. The business continued in operation. The sixty days expired February 5. City police issued the citation Monday February 7.
All Libby business licenses expire on December 31 of each year. The City Council has refused to renew the Helping Place's license.
The City suspended the license on the premise that the nature of the business was misstated on the original business license application and citing the City ordinance which says licensees must not violate federal laws. The sale of marijuana for medical purposes is illegal under federal law, while, at the moment, is legal in Montana. _______________________________________________
