Now must find a way to make up $16,000 per year lost revenue

The Libby City Council has decided to do away with the charge for sprinkler fire suppression systems connected to city water mains.
The charges have brought in about $16,000 a year for the City, but collecting them has been a continuous problem. The structure was a hold-over from the day when Pacific Power and Light owned the water system, and is not typical of the way most municipalities deal with sprinkler water supplies.
However, that money has to be made up. Exactly how has not been determined. One option is to increase the hydrant tax by $9.00 per year. Another option would be to increase water rates to cover the shortfall. _______________________________________________
