The goal of the St. John’s Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary is to support St. John’s Lutheran Hospital with their time, talent, and the purchase of equipment. Something they have done with amazing spirit and in full force over the past fiscal year by donating 5,182 hours of service and purchasing hospital equipment totaling $12,570. They have also driven a total of 6,978 miles to make all of this happen.
The SJLH Auxiliary generally holds many volunteer and fundraising activities throughout the year, and fiscal year 2010 was no exception. They volunteered their time to help put mailings together, assist with the 2nd grade hospital tours during Hospital week, serve water at the annual health fair, and make phone calls for the quarterly community surveys. This dedicated group of volunteers also provides labor to the dietary, medical records, and home health departments; and they create and donate baby blankets for the nursery.
The Auxiliary’s fundraising activities in the past year have included the Festival of Trees Community Night Baked Goods and Gift Sale, Nordic Fest Swedish Meatball Booth, Auxiliary Rummage Sale, Spring Style Show and Luncheon, and Christmas Time Raffle. The Auxiliary also runs the gift shop at the hospital, stocking the store and providing volunteers to staff it as well. All of this work raising funds for the past year has provided the hospital with a Power Trainer for the Troy Rehab office, blood pressure monitors, a chemotherapy chair, two vein illumination devices, and an EKG machine.
"We are proud of the work we do, and are always happy to help St. John’s Lutheran Hospital purchase new equipment so that they have the tools that they need to continue to provide healthcare services to our area," stated Jan Kendall, SJLH Auxiliary President. "We are also always looking for new members, so if you interested in being a part of the auxiliary, we would love to have more volunteers!"
For membership or donation information, please contact the auxiliary by leaving your name and number at the gift shop in the hospital.
